Dome Sweet Dome!

Easton and I spent Monday night in the UNI Dome supporting Aaron and the Pella Dutch football team in the state semi finals. This has became a second home for Aaron since he was born. His first trip to the dome was in November of 1982 as a 3 month old. Easton is following in his daddy's footsteps as he made his first appearance at 4 months.

Apples and More Apples

Over the last two weeks, I have been busy in the kitchen making all kinds of apple preserves. Aaron picked two wash bins full of apples from our tree in front of our house. It was loaded this year, to the point that the limbs were almost touching the ground they were so heavy.
The end products were:
2 Gallons of Apple Sauce (Some for Easton to try in a couple of months when he starts solid food!)
2 Gallons of Apple Butter
10 Apple Pies

After boiling the apples, I put them in the food mill.

Once they go through the food mill, this is what it looks like.

Playing In The Leaves

This weekend we finally got to enjoy some fall weather. It was a perfect day to play in the leaves! You've got to love Fall in the Midwest! I think Easton already does.

Where Will They Go

How precious are little feet? There is just something about those stubby, little toes and thick soles.
Looking at these pictures made me think, "Where are these little feet going to go some day?" My prayer is that these little feet grow into big feet that follow after Jesus. That they walk in a way that brings glory to the one that made them oh so perfect.

Craftsmen

As every parent knows, when you add a child to your home, you also had more "stuff." We live in an old home, that like many others, doesn't have an abundance of storage. So, before Easton was born, I was planning ahead as to how we were going to store the new baby items.
A friend of mine was moving and gave me an old window. Thanks JoDee! I thought I would just use it for decoration, until one day I got an idea to make a cabinet out of it. I thought it would make a perfect door. Of course I wasn't going to be the one to make it! That is what my handy craftsmen brothers are for.
I drew a sketch of what I was envisioning and asked my brother Dan if he could make this sketch reality. Although it took many months, it was finally finished and hung above our toilet in our upstairs bathroom. Easton's bath supplies now have a home.
My other brother Jacob, built me a row of cubbies for above Easton's changing table to hold all of those diaper changing necessities. This idea came from his daughter's nursery when they lived in Iowa City. My sister-in-law always has neat ideas that I like to steal!!
Anyway, thanks to my wonderful craftsmen brothers, we have lots more storage!

Hawkeye Weekend

Aaron, Easton and I had a busy weekend in Iowa City. I had to work Friday, so Easton got to spend the day with Aunt Katie and Grandpa. Saturday we tailgated and went to the Iowa vs Michigan game with college friends. It felt like old times, and oh how we miss being in Iowa City.

Just like old times, making pancakes and sausage on game day! Matt and Jon were two of Aaron's college roommates.

Things have obviiously changed since we have been in college. Jon and his wife, also had a little boy, Ethan. He was born about a month before Easton. Who would have thought the dad's would be holding their boys together?

Ethan trying to comfort Easton. Easton didn't like taking pictures so much.

Easton eventually settled down, but not for long.

Easton also got to meet his third cousin, Scott, who was visiting from Florida.
