We traveled back to Iowa for the entire week of Thanksgiving. This trip was something we didn't expect to be able to do, but God provided the flights, a car and time off to be able to enjoy some time with family before Baby R #2 comes. It was a whirlwind of a trip in more than one way.
We were set to leave Saturday morning at 8:30. Plans changed Friday night when we received a call from the airlines saying that our morning flight was delayed and would be leaving at 9:30 instead. That meant we would arrive in Chicago at 12 noon. Sounds good except that our connecting flight was to leave at 12:10. So, we made a call and were given the option to depart Austin at 7:00 instead of 9:30. This would re-route us, and put us in Des Moines at 12. It all sounded great!
Saturday morning at 3 a.m., Easton woke up crying. Nothing too out of the ordinary. I asked him if he needed to go potty and he responded with a "yes." As I set him on the toilet, it was as if his whole body was hiccuping or convulsing. I asked him if he needed to throw up and then yelled for Aaron to get me a bowl!! Easton had never thrown up before, so I wasn't sure if he even knew what that meant. He said, "no," went potty and went back to bed. I layed with him for an hour only because the convulsing scared me.
We all got up around 4 to get ready and things were going smoothly; no vomit to speak of. We were on schedule and walked out the door at 5:00 when all of a sudden Easton started the hiccuping things again and threw up all over himself and Aaron! The only good thing was that it was outside our apartment, so we didn't have to clean up too much.
After a change of clothes and some washing up, we headed out the door a second time.
He threw up one time in the car and one more time in the airport, but thankfully gave us fare warning with the whole body hiccup. Thankfully it only lasted 24 hours and he was pretty much back to himself. Definitely not an ideal time to be sick when you are traveling, but we made the best of it.

We put on over 950 miles when we were back in Iowa! It seemed like we were in a different city every day. We spent time in Des Moines, Pella, Mt. Vernon, Solon, Dubuque and Dyersville.
Nana and Papa read Easton bedtime stories the night we spent with them.
Squeezing Uncle Neal's cheeks!
It was fun to hear Easton say everyone's name while we were back. We have a picture wall in our apartment, and point out each family member and practice their names so that he know's who everyone is. It is amazing how his vocabulary has increased leaps and bounds since we have moved.

We spent Thanksgiving Day at my Dad's family farm. I loved being back in the Midwest and seeing the beautiful landscape and scenery.
We ventured outside with some of Easton's cousins to check out the animals on the farm. It has also become tradition to shoot clay pigeons after dinner. Easton watched from a distance, but kept saying how he was scared and it was loud.
We are so thankful that we were able to spend some precious time, although too short, with so many family and friends.
