Last Saturday Easton decided, out of the blue, that he was now a BIG boy, and no longer needed his pacifier for naptime!! Where this idea came from, I have no idea. Aaron and I both looked at each other and said "OK!"
From a young age we only let Easton have the pacifier at nap and bedtime. He knew when he got out of the crib, that he had to throw the pacifier back in. Before we moved to Texas, we took the pacifier away for bedtime and attempted taking it away for naptime too. When he would only sleep for 30 minutes, I said "NO WAY." So I caved and gave it back to him for naptime.
So, we have been a week without the naptime pacifier, and let me tell you how it's going... not as smooth as I would like!
Any mama of young kids knows that naptime is PRECIOUS. Maybe a better way of saying it would be "selfish mama time," or "stay sane mama time!" All I know is that I. LOVE. ME. SOME. NAP. TIME!!
He has been napping about every other day and when he does nap, he wakes up after about 45 minutes just screaming his little head off. My friend said it best, 'He has to find a new way to soothe himself." If I can get him to calm down, he goes back to sleep for another couple of hours. He obviously needs a nap!!
When Easton said that he was ready to say good-bye to the pacifiers, we had him throw them in the garbage can. We immediately took the trash out to the dumpster, and later that day, Easton saw a garbage truck! Now he says that the garbage truck took his pacifiers away!! Bye-Bye paci's!!!!
On a random note, we had sleet in Texas today!! It has been in the upper 30's/low 40's, so we enjoyed a fire today!! Never thought we would use a fire place in Texas.
