Christmas. It's just another day here. Stores are open; people are hard at work; kids are in school; traffic is normal. There isn't the hustle and bustle of last minute shopping. No calenders booked with holiday parties. No cookie exchanges. No children's Christmas programs. No family gatherings. It's just another normal day.
Living in a place where there is no anticipation or excitement of Christmas day, brings a sadness to my heart. This Christmas was different. As all of the "normalness" was stripped away; no family gatherings and glistening snow, it made me reflect on the TRUE meaning of Christmas.
As a follower of Jesus, it's the most important day as the Savior of the world was born. The day we celebrate the birth of a baby, who came into the world just as any other babe, but with a greater purpose to rescue us from the punishment we deserve. To instead give us abundant life; freedom from the bondage of sin and joy overflowing.
I pray that some day these people can celebrate the meaning of Christmas with great anticipation.
