3 Weeks ago we started off our weekend with donuts. I know, not very healthy, but it was more for the experience. Austin is known for its Food Trailers, so we had to try this one, Gourdough's Donuts. They have quite the variety; anything you can imagine really, placed atop a fresh donut. They all have crazy names too like "The Flying Pig," which has bacon and maple syrup glaze. "The Funky Monkey" has grilled bananas, cream cheese icing and brown sugar. The "Mother Clucker" has fried chicken with honey butter.
My suggestion would be to stop here for dessert not breakfast!!
We continued our day with a scenic drive to Sweet Berry Farm. The strawberry harvest was ripe for the picking, so we got busy filling our basket with plump, juicy and delicious strawberries! Easton worked hard to fill his basket in the hot sun, picking each berry with care. A few even made it in his tummy!
Showing the fruits of his hard work to Titus. So tempting. "Can we have one please? Pretty please!!"
The next stop on our journey, was Hamilton Pool Preserve. It's a historic swimming hole just outside of Austin. Hamilton Creek spills over a limestone outcropping, creating a 50 foot waterfall. The level of the creek is low right now, so the waterfall was more of a trickle, but but still beautiful.
The water is clear in most areas and was fun to swim in, but cold! It was really hard to get a good picture of the whole thing and all its beauty, but you can see one here.
Let's just say after a long, hot day of work and play, Easton was exhausted!
