Easton's First Day of School

 What a day!!
Easton had his first day of pre-school, and not just any first day, but his first day of school spoken all in a foreign language in a foreign country!!
He had mixed emotions leading up to today, but with lots of prayer and encouragement, he did great!
We started off his first day of school with a special breakfast on a special plate!
The night before his first day, Aaron and Easton walked to his school and sat outside the gate and prayed together. It was a precious time as father and son. Today we got to see those prayers answered! Praise God!
Easton and I have been talking a lot about fear. The last month or so he has been very fearful to go anywhere without us. I reminded him today that God is always with us. I drew a cross on his shoe, and told him to look at it whenever he felt afraid or sad as a reminder that Jesus is always with him.
This picture cracks me up! He asked if he could raise his hand! Evidently raising his hand correlates with going to school.
This mama can't believe that her first born is already in school. It doesn't seem possible that he is old enough to be in school. Wasn't it just yesterday that he was learning to walk and talk?
I was a little sad that our days together would be shorter, but I know that being immersed in the language and around other kids his age, will be good for his confidence.
In realizing our time together would be less, I was reminded of the importance of laying a firm foundation for our children. Each day is a gift, and as parents we have the privilege and responsibility to raise our children up in the way they should go. This is a continual process, I know, but as my boys get older, the time with them each day will only get shorter. Praying that I can make the most of every moment I have with them, making sure to make each moment a teachable one and one that is full of the Gospel truth.

This first day was a success, and he was even sad when I told him he doesn't go to school tomorrow! We are starting him off slow with 3 days a week from 8:30 to 12:30.
His teacher said he talked and danced and did a great job with the other kids. He didn't eat much, but that doesn't surprise me! I'm sure it will take time to get used to olives, cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers!! Ha!
So thankful that his first day was fun for him, and that we got to see so many prayers answered.
